Corpus stylistics is an area of interest to some of the members of CLaC, who are working on projects such as the identification of the invented language Nadsat in Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange, and representations of landscape in George Eliot’s Middlemarch. Corpus stylistics involves procedures such as deriving and analysing keywords to identify language that is distinctive of the text(s) being investigated and creating and using visualisation tools to discover and illustrate patterns of language use.
