Welcome, and congratulations, to David Beauchamp who was awarded the Coventry University Communicating COVID studentship to build a corpus of COVID related communications and examine the messages from the Downing Street briefings. He is supervised by Sheena Gardner and Benet Vincent through CAMC. David joins us from Cambridge Assessment where he was in the research division. He has taught English in Thailand and in Estonia (where he learned Thai and Russian), and has extensive and varied corpus related teaching and research experience. His MA dissertation from Birmingham was a corpus investigation of pro-independence and pro-union texts on the Scottish Referendum – surely a topic for a forthcoming talk?
