Congratulations are due to Christopher Turner, corrections to whose thesis ‘Towards a New Pedagogical Approach to Some and Any Based on Large-Scale Corpus Analysis’ were accepted this week. This work took an in-depth look at some and any,contrasting their usage in a L1 English corpus (the Oxford English Corpus) before investigating learner issues with these words in texts in the Cambridge Learner Corpus. It also offers some insightful pedagogical implications for learners at different levels. Well done Dr Turner on this impressive piece of work!
