Double congratulations are due to David Beauchamp, who has successfully defended his PhD, “Communicating Covid: variation in UK institutional crisis messages throughout the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic” (link coming soon; find out more about the project here) and had the corrections accepted. This was a really fascinating study of various aspects of communicating COVID-19 by government, local government and the NHS across different modes. David has previously published on this topic in Language, Text and Context.
Congratulations are also due to David for his appointment as a Research Assistant on the BAWESS project at the University of Bath, which will be using corpus approaches to investigate the writing of those taking iGCSE/GCSE, A-Level and IB exams.
