CLaC talks Weds 5 April

CLaC was delighted to host two well-attended talks on Wednesday 5 April.

In the first of these, Benet Vincent talked about recurrent issues in N-gram / Lexical Bundle research, chief amongst them the confusion of method (lexical bundle analysis) with the phenomenon being investigated (phraseology, formulas). Benet aims to develop this topic into a proposal for a Cambridge Elements book (or similar). Slides can be downloaded here

In our second talk, Hülya Mısır gave us a fascinating snapshot of the research that she undertook for her PhD on translanguaging used by Turkish influencers on YouTube. The slides can be viewed and downloaded below.
